Refining sets a separation boundary
A refining duty separates a product stream from retained material. The chosen configuration is assessed through the accepted product and the rejected fraction.
- Inspect both streams.
- Record the offered screen and working arrangement.
- Check whether useful structure leaves with the reject.
Homogenization adds a defined shear duty
An optional homogenizing step changes the product through a particular mechanism. The project must show that this change serves the target texture and application.
- Identify the actual mechanism and feed limits.
- Compare paired untreated and treated samples.
- Check any loss of desired fibre or structure.
Choose by the missing requirement
If the trial already meets the target, an additional process stage needs a clear reason. If it fails, first identify which requirement is missed.
- Unwanted material may call for a separation review.
- A dispersion change may justify a shear trial.
- A measurement mismatch calls for method alignment, not another machine.
